Retail Pro Joins LQ Commercial, Oversees Sarasota Commercial Sector

TAMPA, Fla. – LQ Commercial (Formerly LandQwest), a Florida leader in commercial real estate brokerage, welcomes seasoned retail veteran, Gil Consuegra, to its greater Tampa Bay brokerage team as a Senior Associate.

A Georgia-turned-Florida resident, “Gillie” is the first in LQ’s history to reside in, and exclusively work, the Sarasota-Manatee markets. With nearly 40 years of leasing lifestyle and neighborhood centers, as well as regional malls, Consuegra brings over 10,000,000 square feet of commercial brokerage know-how to the Artist Colony and surrounding areas.

Since 1985, Consuegra has held key retail leasing roles at Ackerman & Company, Konover Property Trust, Equity Investment Group, Brixmor, and Phillips Edison. He recently served as Senior Site Selector for Banfield Pet Hospital.

Gil takes a highly personalized approach to lease negotiations and property valuations (staying true to the LQ custom committment to achieve client-specific objectives). His relationships have secured sites for national retailers like Best Buy, Petsmart, Academy Sports, Old Navy and leased out most sought-after centers in the Southeast such as The Market at Wolfchase Galleria and Memphis Commons.

He has received numerous accolades, including multiple top producer awards at  Brixmor and Phillips Edison.

“The growth from North Port to Bradenton is undeniable,” said LQ President, Daniel Butts. “All eyes are on the Sarasota Metro, so offering clients immediate expertise on the local level was a must. Having Gil’s boots on the ground was the cherry on top.”

“Sarasota is more insulated from economic curves than many top-tier markets,” said Consuegra. “Being here allows LQ clients rapid expansion and/or quick leasing services.” He added “I chose to join LQ Commercial for its prominent retail powerhouses, and the firms’ ability to bring landlords and tenants together for unparalleled service to both parties.”

CoStar Group confirms that job, population, and home value gains in this area are among the highest in the nation, with another 2.4% of year-over-year economic growth expected through 2028.
