FORT MYERS, Fla. – Cypress Cove Resident Rita McSharry has been selected as a representative to the Cypress Cove board of directors. The appointment, approved by the HealthPark Florida life plan community’s parent company Cypress Living (also known as Lee Healthcare Resources), is a three-year term.

The position as resident representative to the Cypress Cove board of directors was first established in 2017 to ensure there is a direct expression of interests and concerns between the board and the community’s 650-plus residents.

McSharry, in accepting the board position, expressed appreciation to the board for their support. “I look forward to working with fellow board members by offering the unique resident perspective while continuing to ensure our organization’s long-term viability,” she said.

She has been an active community volunteer since first arriving at Cypress Cove in 2014, having served a two-year term on the resident council and as liaison to the resident medical committee. For the past four years, she has served as president of the Cypress Cove chapter of the Florida Life Care Residents Association (FLiCRA) and as recording secretary since 2019 for the community’s library board. She also volunteers in the on-campus market.

Professionally, McSharry spent most of her 30-year career within the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. She worked for Hoffmann-La Roche Inc. in various positions in the company’s analytical research department and in its marketing and sales division as a medical information specialist and medical writer/editor. She also held principal and managing partner positions in two marketing research consulting companies. McSharry holds a degree in chemistry from Lowell Technological Institute.
