Southwest Florida Symphony welcomes Raniero Tazzi as artistic and operations director

The Southwest Florida Symphony, Lee County’s only professional orchestra featuring musicians who have studied at the world’s most prestigious conservatories, is excited to announce the appointment of Grand Piano Series Naples co-founder Raniero Tazzi as its new artistic and operations director. In this role, Tazzi will oversee concert and event production, as well as auditions.

“Raniero is the perfect fit for our team,” said Amy Ginsburg, executive director of the Southwest Florida Symphony. “His diverse experience, community familiarity and the collaborative partnership that has been built between Grand Piano Series and Southwest Florida Symphony for many years will serve as an excellent foundation to support organizational growth for both institutions into the future.”

Tazzi, originally from Assisi, Italy, has received a DMA in Piano Performance from the Perugia Conservatory. In 1995, he established the Studio Art Concert Agency, which has toured leading musicians and orchestras of our time, such as The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (Amsterdam), the BBC Symphony Orchestra (London), Martha Argerich, Andras Schiff, Pinchas Zukerman, Sarah Chang, Anne Akiko-Meyers and legendary pianist Friedrich Gulda for his last Italian tour. In 2016, Tazzi and his wife, Milana Strezeva, founded Grand Piano Series where he serves as the media director. In addition to his musical endeavors, Tazzi has a passion for photography, astronomy and cuisine.

“I am excited to join the passionate team at the Southwest Florida Symphony and continue investing in the cultural life of our community,” said Tazzi.

The Southwest Florida Symphony made its debut as a community orchestra on April 15, 1961, playing in schools and community centers, with a roster of only 24 volunteer musicians. Today, the symphony boasts a roster of 70 world-class professional musicians and is Lee County’s only fully professional orchestra and fourth oldest in the state. The Southwest Florida Symphony’s 63rd year continues the orchestra’s tradition of artistic excellence and innovation as Music Director Maestro Radu Paponiu leads another season of spectacular performances. Maestro Paponiu, the sixth music director in the organization’s history, also serves as the associate conductor and youth orchestra director for the Naples Philharmonic in addition to guest-conducting with orchestras throughout the United States and Europe.
