Students at Tice Elementary hear messages of hope from champion athletes
The excitement was palpable as athletes from professional, college and Olympic sports spoke words of encouragement to students at Tice Elementary during the Breakfast of Champions event as part of a series of fundraisers for Blessings in a Backpack SWFL.
Blessings in a Backpack partnered with Champions 4 Childrento deliver messages of hope,determination and inspiration to the children, who received a free breakfast and also got to meet Tony the Tiger of Frosted Flakes fame.
Executives from Frosted Flakes’ parent company, Kellogg’s, were also on hand to witness the emotional and exciting event that brings awareness to the issue of childhood hunger.
A leader in the movement to end childhood hunger, Blessings in a Backpack SWFL makes sureschool-age children receive nutritional meals over the weekend during the school year. EveryFriday afternoon, each child receives a backpack filled with nutritious, kid-friendly, ready-to-eat items. They return the backpacks on Monday, and each is filled and ready for the next weekend
