Tips if deemed ineligible for FEMA assistance
11/07/2024
If FEMA says you are ineligible for assistance, it is not a denial. You may need to send more information or supporting documentation for FEMA to continue reviewing your application for financial assistance.
The top 5 reasons why you might not be initially approved for disaster assistance are:
- FEMA is unable to verify you owned the damaged dwelling at the time of the disaster.
- You have insurance coverage for the loss.
- Your home is still safe to live in despite the damage.
- FEMA is unable to verify you occupied the dwelling at the time of the disaster.
- Inspectors have been unable to reach you to schedule a home inspection.
