  • Tips to be productive from home. For most of us this is a new reality we’re just not quit used to as we all learn how to pivot our lives to balance work/school/family.
  1. Get dressed! Yes, in real clothes. NOT your day jammies. It will help you feel “normal” and might help you eat a bit less lol.
  2. Identify what needs to get done every day and make sure to do it. Make a list the night/day before of what you want to accomplish.
  3. Pretend you’re not at home. Don’t do laundry, clean the bathroom, or take personal calls you wouldn’t normally take if you were at work.Try and keep normal business hours as much as possible.
  4. Take a lunch break/walk just like normal. If you typically take a lunch or get outside for a bit during the day then keep that routine.
  5. Invest time(money if you have it) in creating a comfortable work space. Be sure to have a spot to work that is clean and clear of clutter and distractions. It is proven that a clean and organized work space inspires you to be more productive.
  6. Have kids home with you? Make a Stoplight out of construction paper for your work space. Red means Stop: you cannot be disturbed at the moment, Yellow: knock first and Green: come on in. All age groups understand these and may help you when you’re on a Zoom meeting or talking to a potential client.
  7. Remember everyone is in this together when you are on a Zoom meeting or conference call. Dogs will bark, cats will jump on your laptop, kids will need you. Take a breath. This too shall pass.
  • Mess? Working from home can reek havoc on your cleaning routine as your home’s normal footprint has increased from 20% to 100% seemingly overnight. Try not to stress about mess, it sometimes just can’t be helped.
