TWENTY-THREE EMPLOYEE SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED BY CYPRESS COVE FOR FALL 2020 TERM

(Fort Myers, Fl – July 22, 2020) – Cypress Cove’s staff scholarship committee recently awarded 23 educational scholarships for the Fall 2020 academic term to employees and dependents of the South Fort Myers Life Plan community.

The recent scholar selections bring to 45 the number of employees and their dependents who have been chosen as scholarship recipients since the program began in the Spring of 2018. Fall scholars from Cypress Cove will be represented at nine different institutions of higher learning.

“Cypress Cove believes everyone should live a full, purposeful life regardless of their age or ability, said Philanthropy Specialist Allen Abbott. “We become family to each other. The scholarship initiative is another way residents demonstrate their love for our community and hope for a better future.”

The current class of scholars will be attending schools: Florida SouthWestern State College, Rasmussen College, Keiser University, the University of South Florida, Fort Myers Tech College, Western Governor’s University, Ashworth College, the University of Central Florida, and Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College.

This Fall’s scholarship class, according to Cypress Cove Philanthropy Specialist Allen Abbott, includes 14 returning scholars. Of the 23 recipients, 11 have been awarded named scholarships (awards named in honor of Cypress Cove resident donors).

Receiving named scholarships are Cabrini Tavarez (the Perry & Susan Ahrens Scholarship); Yaira “Patricia” Chavez (the Jack G. Brown Scholarship); Daicika Avrillien (the Marcia Goldberg & Judy Papier Scholarship); Cheri Helmink (The Barbara high Family Scholarship); and Marie Josee Bernavil (the Bert & Joanie Jenks Scholarship for Persistence).

Other named scholarship recipients include Gina Karat (the Don & Jane King Scholarship); Shantae Gayle (the Marilyn Klepacki Scholarship); Sheena Joseph (the Donna Miceli Scholarship); Olivia Taylor (the Lyle & Audrey Olson Scholarship); Daphleine Jocelin (the Sheppard Memorial Scholarship); and Samantha Rockenhaus (the Robert & Dianne Willis Scholarship).

Twelve other Cypress Cove employee or dependents of employees selected a scholarship recipients are Evelyn Alpizar Flores, Quincy Boireau, Jeff Cassamajor, Sanley Castor, Samuel Chery, Paul Denova, Kerry Fry, Sergine Gaspard, Anne Laguerre, Makayla Michel, Abigayle Pierre, and Everett Taylor.

First-time scholarship recipients receive $2,000 toward their education while employees having previously received scholarship program assistance were awarded $1,000.
