United Way names Advocate Radiation Oncology as a top corporate partner for WeCare Program

Advocate Radiation Oncology was named a top WeCare corporate partner for 2023 by United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades, which also recognized Advocate’s Dr. Graciela Garton as a top provider for her volunteer work with WeCare.

Last year, Advocate provided services valued at $394,607 to 24 uninsured patients from Lee, Hendry and Glades counties. To qualify for WeCare, individuals must be referred to United Way by a medical provider, have a severe medical condition, earn less than 200% of the federal poverty limit and have no health insurance. Advocate then forms a patient care team that collaborates with other physicians to create a treatment plan.

“Our calling as physicians is to provide world-class care to patients, regardless of their financial standing or ability to pay,” said Dr. Arie Dosoretz, Advocate’s managing partner. “Ethically and morally, it’s the right thing to do. We are happy to partner with United Way because, in all likelihood, the cancer treatments we provide are necessary to save patients’ lives.”

Advocate’s team of board-certified radiation oncologists use cutting-edge technology to treat patients with breast, prostate, lung, brain, head and neck, rectal, liver, bone, cervical and other types of cancers.

Garton, who was among five top individual providers that United Way recognized, earned her medical degree at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina and completed her residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. She has developed and managed radiation oncology practices in Florida, North Carolina, New Jersey and Maryland.
