Updated Information on the Lee County Business Rehire Program

Monday, July 6, 2020, Lee County launched its COVID-19 business assistance program for job creation, named “Business Rehire.”

The sentences in bold have been revised since the program was launched:

It was originally reported that the “Business Rehire” program was available to small businesses that had been deemed as “non-essential.” In an update to the program, grants are available to any “qualified” small businesses located in Lee County that were negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and who rehire full-time equivalent (FTE) positions that were in place as of March 1, 2020. Any eligible positions must be rehired on, or after, July 6, 2020.

The grant provides $5,000 per full-time equivalent position rehired, up to $10,000, for businesses with 10 or fewer employees. Or up to $20,000 for larger qualified businesses with fewer than 250 employees. All businesses must certify if they have received PPP funds at the time of the application submittal. (A business will not be eligible if they took the 24-week option, and for those who opted for the 8-week coverage period, the coverage period must have expired.)

Applications and additional eligibility requirements will be available online at www.LeeFLCares.com or by calling (239) 533-2273.
