Millennial Brewing Company is preparing its Downtown Fort Myers location (1811 Royal Palm Ave.) for a fundraiser for Captains for Clean Water and small businesses impacted by the state of waterways in South Florida. This event is slated for Friday, August 17th, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Ten percent of all beer sales, as well as 100% of all monies generated by a silent auction, 50-50 and other raffles, vendor tables, and personal donations, will go directly to Captains for Clean Water’s lobbying efforts in Washington, D.C. This nonprofit advocates for the elimination of large-scale discharges from Lake Okeechobee by restoring a natural flow, which prolongs the life of estuaries, the health of the Everglades and the long-term viability of the Biscayne Aquifer.

This fundraiser will include the sale of food by beachfront and waterfront restaurants that will replace Millennial Brewing’s regularly scheduled food truck service that evening. Other vendors will include water-based businesses, such as fishing boats, charters, tour boats, kayaking services, paddle boarding services and water sport rental companies. This is to help locals recoup sales that were lost due to water quality. All non-water-based food vendors will donate 10% of their fundraising sales to Captains for Clean Water. Live music will also be available throughout the event.

Anyone interested in vendor opportunities during the Captains for Clean Water fundraiser can contact Millennial Brewing’s Amber Cebull at amber@millennialbrewing.com. Preference will be given to businesses located directly on South Florida waterways and Fort Myers Beach.

Donations for the silent auction can be dropped off at Millennial Brewing from Tuesday through Thursday between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m., Friday between 3 p.m. and midnight, Saturday between noon and midnight, and Sunday between noon and 5 p.m.

“This cause is so important to everyone that lives in or plans on visiting Southwest Florida,” Kyle Cebull, Founder of Millennial Brewing Company said. “As a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast and a local business owner for nearly three years, I, along with Captains for Clean Water, have seen the gradual decline of estuaries, but no long-term solution. Therefore, this event is expected to generate a big crowd, so we encourage any water-based restaurant that can mobilize to sell food at Millennial Brewing, as well as anyone who values delicious beer, a good time and proactivity to demonstrate support.”

Those who are unable to attend the fundraiser can make donations to Captains for Clean Water at CaptainsForCleanWater.org. For more information, go to Facebook.com/MillennialBrewing.

About Captains for Clean Water:
Captains for Clean Water is a grassroots 501(c)3 organization that started out as a group of fishing guides from Fort Myers who were unhappy with Florida’s poor water management practices. Attributing the issue to a lack of public awareness, they set out to restore and protect marine ecosystems and a way of life for future generations via educational advancement and scientifically supported solutions.
