Government Contracts: A Business Opportunity

In 2017, 115 Collier County-based companies won 296 U.S. Department of Defense contracts totaling $45.8 million and Lee County businesses won 437 contracts totaling $6.18 million. Does your small business want a part of that action? Federal, state and local government contracts are a lucrative way of exponentially growing a business, but bidding on them can be a complicated process. That’s why the Collier County Office of Business & Economic Development is offering a workshop featuring local businesses and government officials, who will detail success stories and explain the government-contract bidding process, including “set-asides,” contracts set aside for minority-, women-owned and other disadvantaged small businesses. The event also will feature a brief panel discussion, “Practical Tips for Winning Government Contracts.” Coffee, muffins and snacks will be provided.
